Office space.
Lighting makes a room. Period. Chandeliers, sconces, table and floor lamps, pot lights, art lights. It takes a room from a 5 to a TEN! There are a lot of thoughts on this, but we lean toward more is more! We love to overplay the lighting because it gives a GRAND feel! We originally had just one longer, rectangular chandelier in here but we felt we needed more! We then added wall sconces, pot lights for darker corners and an art light to highlight the abstract painting! It sets such a mood.
Up-cycled office piece.
You see this wall cabinet? There’s a story here! We found this Pottery Barn cherry wood cabinetry on marketplace for $350. It came in 3 sections, but there became a major problem with the middle one. It was too tall and wide to fit up our stairs. We even damaged ceilings getting this thing in our home! So, without me knowing, David decided to cut this middle piece in half, remove a section of our outdoor balcony railings, and use a hoist chain and pulley to raise them up onto our second floor to move inside. By himself. When I went outside, seeing him dangling over the side of the balcony without any railings, having drilled a hole into our balcony post and dangling this thing over the side of our house... I about died! I slowly walked away, and had my dad watch to ensure he didn’t fall. I just couldn’t! Nevertheless, it made it in safely! He repaired the cut, we painted it this Carbonized by SW color, added new hardware, and added wood trim and details at the top! Whew!! This is where I keep a LOT of my extra decor for the home. But I can’t help every time I see this think of David risking his life for it - MEN.
Office reveal.
Finally...the office is done! The last 7 weeks without water from the storm, moving back and forth with the kids, and being overwhelmingly stressed, some things took a backseat. Ha! But it’s finally done! We found the perfect office chair, added all finishing touches and touch ups, and it is finished! We originally envisioned a different color scheme for this room, but sometimes rooms create themselves. It began with finding one of our silk rugs for $20. Then the rest began falling into place. We love the modern organic feel and it’s (as usual for us) super cozy :)
