Wellness · My Journey
Learning to take care of the body that carried it all.
I have been pregnant seven times in the last thirteen years. I have carried six babies and nursed every one of them. My body has done remarkable things, and for a long time I did not treat it that way.
Long before motherhood, I struggled with anxious feelings, sad thoughts and my weight. I battled eating disorders, shaped in part by the culture I grew up in and what it told me healthy was supposed to look like.

Where it started
It started because I needed help.
Thirteen years ago I went looking for answers because I needed them. I had to unlearn much of what I had been taught about health and redefine it on my own terms.
Somewhere along the way it became a passion. I wanted to help other people find what I had found. In time it also became one of the income streams that supports our family. But before it was any of that, it was my own story.
What changed
Back to the things of the earth.
Over the years I have become more and more holistic. Our babies were born at home, and I rarely reach for pharmaceutical medicine. Western medicine is there for a reason, and I am grateful for it when it is truly needed. But my first instinct now is to look for what is natural.
I believe our bodies are incredible machines, designed to heal, and designed to use the good things of the earth to do it.
Where I am today
What thirteen years have given me
01
A body I feel at home in
I have lost about forty pounds. More than that, I feel healthy and happy in my own skin.
02
A quieter mind
The anxious feelings and depressed thoughts that used to follow me are no longer part of my days, and I am not on pharmaceutical medicine for them.
03
Peace with food
Food is nourishment now, not the enemy. And I have learned that strength is its own form of health.
Health was never really about a number for me. It was about finally being at peace in the body I was given.
TaraIf you are struggling
